Pastoral Opening
Since our current pastor Rev. Herm Van Niejenhuis will be retiring in June of 2012, we've begun the search for the next person to step in and lead Covenant CRC. We're located in the vibrant, uniquely-prosperous, rural community of Sioux Center, Iowa, home to 7,000 people. Sioux Center is home to Dordt College and a dedicated Christian K-8 grade school. Two Christian high schools--Hull Western and Orange City Unity--are within 15 minutes of the community.
Covenant Christian Reformed Church was established in 1974 and is currently home to about 120 families. Today we have two weekly services, one more traditional and one more blended in style. We are also in the process of hiring a part-time worship coordinator and encourage the new pastor to work openly with this person in creating an atmosphere of worship. This new pastor will be:
- a person who is family-friendly, loves the Covenant congregation, and visits them regularly
- a person who opens the Scriptures and has a strong story-telling style
- a collaborator who continually unifies us through proper challenges
- one who embraces diversity regarding women in council, and children's participation in the Lord's Supper while remaining sensitive to differing views
- a pastor who can engage and involve all ages in worship
